This wooden Shut the Box game is a version of the classic dice game for up to four players. Each player has a row of numbered flaps from 1 to 10, with a separate colour: red, blue, green or yellow.

On their turn, players roll two dice, add the results and close one or more flaps whose numbers total that sum. Play continues while a possible combination remains, then the visible numbers are added together. The lowest score wins.

The simple rules suit family play, two-player games and solo play. Calculating each round provides a practical way to practise addition, number recognition and choosing different number combinations.
